About me
I am a doctoral level Licensed Professional Counselor (Licensed to practice in the jurisdictions of Texas, Kansas, Washington DC, and Virginia) as well as a Certified Telemental Health Therapist. I received my M.ED in Marriage, Family, Couples therapy. Therefore, I have solid training and a great interest in couples and family work. I have experience working in private practice setting, substance treatment programs, corporate setting, as well as college counseling. In these settings, I have conducted group sessions, individual sessions, play therapy, couples sessions, marriage counseling, as well as adolescent and child therapy. Additionally, I have experience and extensive training using tele-mental health to provide therapeutic services to my clients. My therapy style is conversational, relational and direct with a bit of humor when appropriate. During sessions, I like to keep a balance of processing heaviness with some lighthearted banter. Laughter is good for the soul and I tend to be a glass half-full kind of lady.
I work as a therapist part time, am a mom of 2 busy children, an adjunct professor, and a proud military spouse. I spend my spare time teaching others how to use essential oils and maintain a clean and healthy lifestyle, learning more about the body and nutrition, cooking, hiking, reading, and spending with my children. Due to the COVID-19, my newest and continually evolving endeavor is learning how to juggle life responsibilities, while maintaining a proper work-life balance. Some of you may be able to relate as many folks are continuing to experience COVID related stress. I am also a multicultural ally. While times are difficult, I rely on coping skills, life understanding, and faith to carry me through. We all need something to ground us when times get tough and for me, that is faith and family. Thanks for checking out my website and learning a bit about me and my practice. I hope to speak with you soon!
